Police believe a Toyota Fielder KCL 381K is the vehicle used to abduct journalist Barrack Oduor and Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
The vehicle, which operates as a taxi in Migori town, has been impounded and is at the Oyugis police station.
The car is registered under Olivia Oloo who is said to be a second wife to a Mr Caspal Obiero, a Personal Assistant to Governor Okoth Obado.
Its driver Jackson Gombe is also in police custody after recording a statement with police.
A source at the Kisumu DCI offices said Olivia was also grilled.
The source added that there is ground to believe the car is the same Oduor and Sharon were bundled into after they were exchanged from another car.
Oduor escaped by jumping from the moving car.
It is not yet clear if Oduor has been called to identify the car.
