The brutal murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno has exposed her life to the public.
Sharon has been described by fellow comrades as mysterious and few knew about her deep secrets save for her glamorous life on social media.
On Facebook, Sharon was a diva living a flashy lifestyle that only the lucky would afford.
She also bragged about carrying ‘mtoto wa county’ and having powerful connections.
A scan through her several Facebook accounts paints the image of a happy girl eating life on the first lane.
She has selfies of herself enjoying meals at top end hotels, flying and posing in expensive outfits.
However, her death has seen her past and the life her parents live exposed.
Contrary to the rich picture she painted to many, her parents live a modest life in the village in a mud-walled house with no electricity or tap water.
She was also married to a local teacher where they sired three children before the love life hit the rocks. As she was slaying flying the several destinations, her three children were burdening her mother back in the village.
The secrets that were exposed after her murder shows what young people are doing these days in a famed fashion known as ‘fake it till you make it’.
As we all urge the government to find her killers and punish them accordingly, we should also use her death as a lesson to the young girls to live genuine lives.
Instead of having a rich man paying your bills at expensive hotels and flying you around the world, chill out and make yourself achieve what you can.
With your own money, you can support your own family and uplift their lives.
