Majority of the taxpayers have accused the government of burdening them with the recently introduced 16 percent VAT on fuel hence want it scrapped.

Some citizens took to social media expressing their dissatisfaction with the government's move to increasing fuel prices across the country.

Most matatu and bodaboda operators have equally increased fares in parts of the country following the increment on fuel prices.

Ukambani residents were not left behind on this, they took the discussion to Machakos County Politics Facebook.

These are some of their suggestions on how the Jubilee administration should reduce the tax burden on Kenyans:

1. Charge 100 percent on corruption

If one is found in the act, he should pay the money back and pay the same amount as tax.

"The government should charge 100 percent on those found to have stolen taxman's money," posted Stephen Mwilu.

2. Avoid borrowing if the project they are investing in won't bring direct jobs or income.

"The government is running to borrow from all over but it ends up investing in wrong projects which don't give Kenyans jobs or don't make good returns," posted Purity Muisu.

3. Embrace public participation before implementing government projects

Master Muasya posted: "The constitution states that the public must participate in any government projects before implementation."

4. Reduce government's expenditure

Kenyans want the government to reduce its financial expenditure by getting rid of activities which do not add up.

"The government should reduce its expenditure. Eliminate some positions in government and fuel guzzlers," said Ann.
