Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (Russia) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Peter Okoth has denied claims that some members of the staff have been selling newborn babies delivered at the health facility.
Addressing members of the press on Thursday, Dr Okoth said that such claims are dangerous and are aimed at painting the hospital in bad light.
He said that claims of baby theft can easily be verified by aggrieved parents undergoing DNA tests.
“According to us, we don’t have such a situation and we treat them as rumours. I have had three claims but when it comes to DNA they don’t want to take tests meaning that this is just hyped out there. Why would one claim this but when it comes to letting us now prove it they don’t even show up,” he said.
He warned that it is very risky to make such allegations without proof since they may make women deliver at home for perceived fear of losing their newborns, insisting that it is very risky for a pregnant woman to deliver at home.
“What you don’t know is that you are destroying the society. When you make a claim, go through it until the end,” he added.
