Boni Khalwale has said that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga popularity in the country especially Western Kenya is on the decline and gave his proof.
Speaking during an interview in KTN Point Blank, the former Kakamega Senator noted that what happened on Saturday during the burial of the late Julius Atsango, the brother of Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito at Shibuye village in Shinyalu constituency in Kakamega is a clear show of Raila's decreasing popularity.
Khalwale said that Raila's bigger brother Oburu Odinga was enticing the moaners when he suggested that Raila will be on the ballot come 2022 in a bid to gauge the mourner's reaction.
He claimed that when the reaction to Oburu's remarks was not good, Raila then came later to dismiss the claims, adding that the press did not show that part during the burial.
"The Press was very kind in its footage in as far as what transpired in Shinyalu Constituency, Shibuye Village when Raila was there with his wife and his brother. His brother when he said those things it occurred to us subsequently that they were tasting the waters," Khalwale said.
"When he said it and the moaners responded with crumbling Raila was responding to those mourners, he realised that those remarks of his brother were unpopular and unwelcomed, the media chose not to say that," he added.
Khalwale claimed that his effort of 'redeeming' his people from Raila's influence has started bearing fruits.
"The message I got was that my people in Kakamega have finally bought into what I have repeatedly sold to them that we are through with the former Prime Minister," he claimed.
