On Thursday, he handed over a copy of the bill to controversial lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi for a review, several months after he produced the new initiative dubbed 'Punguza Mizigo'.

The former presidential aspirant said that he looks forward to a response from the lawyer who has at times been seen delving into matters politics and national governance.

"Today, the Grand Mullah, Ahmednassir Abdullahi received the Punguza Mizigo Bill of 2019. Looking forward to his review of the Bill," he tweeted.

Aukot's bid seeks to reduce the number of elected representatives by reducing seats, in a bid to prevent wastage of taxes through double representation and duplication of roles.

He has proposed a different system which will reduce the parliamentary positions to slightly over one hundred, in what his party believes will lighten the tax burden Kenyans are having to cope with to implement the constitution.

Ahmednasir was part of the defence team that was deployed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the IEBC to fight opposition leader Raila Odinga's petition against Uhuru's 2017 reelection.
