Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi has now threatened to sue Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa for allegedly spreading false information that she facilitated bribes to some MPs to shoot down the sugar report on Thursday last week.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings on Thursday, Gedi said that she has instructed her lawyers to file a suit against Barasa and others who are linking her to the bribery.
She maintained that she is not aware of the bribery allegations as some people claim.
Gedi stated that Barasa and others are out to injure her character and career.
“I am not taking this matter lightly and I have instructed my lawyers to prepare court papers,” she said.
Gedi that she will protect her character even as investigations into bribery start. Sources say that MPs linked to the bribery are likely to be summoned before the end of the week.
Gedi is at the center of the bribery allegations with some MPs claiming that they witnessed her issue bribes.
On Sunday, speaker of the National assembly Justin Muturi invited investigative agencies to probe the claims.
This comes as some MPs call for re-introduction of the rejected report into Parliament.
