Mombasa's fire department is on the spot after one girl was burnt to death at Chaani.
The minor was burnt to death after a Thursday night fire broke out destroying properties of unknown value at Chaani area in Migadini in Changamwe constituency.
The residents are now blaming the county government, specifically the fire and disaster management department for poor response.
The angry residents chased away the firefighters for arriving late and without enough water.
“We chased the fire fighters away since they could not put off the fire as they had no water. They had to call for a second engine," said Evelyn Wambua as reported by Nation.
The fire killed a minor and razed down a three-bedroom house. The owner of the house could not secure any property from the house.
Mombasa Senator Mohammed Faki confirmed that the firefighters who came to the scene had no water. He, however, urged the concerned department to always prepare in future.
"There was a fire in Migadini, Changamwe. Fire engines were on site but they did not have enough water, he said.
Mombasa Police Commander Johnstone Ipara said they are yet to determine the cause of the fire. He, however, said, he will reveal the cause as soon as investigations are complete.
