Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu Wambugu has challenged the Deputy President William Ruto to substantiate through actions and not mere words that he supports and works with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The lawmaker was speaking at a church service in Kasarani constituency, Nairobi county, where he stated that Jubilee leaders were tired of Ruto's claims that he reads from the same script with the president on issues of national interest.
He shared a video of his speech on his Facebook page.
Wambugu observed that the deputy president's assertions of walking on the same path with his boss were not enough to convince the country if it is not backed by tangible deeds.
He cited corruption purge as one of the decisions that every leader of good will including Ruto has to help the president in ensuring its success.
The legislator advised Ruto to fight corruption with the same rigour as the president if he meant his words.
"Don't tell us you are working with Uhuru. Show us. We want you to show us. Don't just tell us," said Wambugu, a statement directed to DP Ruto.
"Uhuru has said let's fight corruption. Isn't it? If your work is to do so, meaning you are working for Uhuru, then we want to see you fight it," remarked the MP.
The first time MP wondered why Ruto fights handshake, an idea initiated by the president. He further said the deputy president should support the handshake if he wanted to be trusted.
