Nelson Havi on Friday said Sonko who is yet to appoint a deputy should nominate Miguna for the position since the High Court has already made a ruling that he (Miguna) is a Kenyan and therefore qualifies for the appointment.

He said there was no need for Sonko to consult with the opposition NASA over the nomination and the county chief should thus endorse the exiled Miguna.

"Governor Mike Sonko had already appointed Dr Miguna Miguna Deputy Governor of Nairobi County. The County Assembly should now approve the appointment, the High Court having determined and affirmed Miguna’s Kenyan citizenship. No need to consult NASA on the issue," Havi said in a tweet.

Last year, Sonko nominated Miguna for the post of deputy governor but the development was rejected within the Jubilee circles since the outspoken lawyer stood as one of the greatest critics of President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration following his deportation from Kenya to Canada.

On Friday Sonko said NASA had approached him to consider appointing an opposition member to the position of deputy governor in the spirit of the handshake. He said NASA has already proposed Rahab Wangui for nomination.

Miguna rejected his last year nomination as Sonko's deputy.
