Nyamira Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo resumed duty on Monday after close to five months absence orchestrated by kidney problems which forced him out of the country.
Since August 2018, Nyaribo jetted to India where he was subjected to a major operation thus his prolonged absence which had caused anxiety among the residents.
A statement by communication team said that Mr Nyaribo held a closed-door meeting with his boss, John Nyagarama in the morning hours and the two were due to meet in the afternoon.
"Nyamira County Deputy Governor reported back to work today in the morning. For most of the morning, he held an indoor meeting with Governor John Nyagarama at his office.
"The two are also holding a meeting this afternoon. The DG was received by dozens of members of staff."
His presence could now reignite standoff with Governor Nyagarama given that the two have been battling at the Registrar of Political Parties over power sharing.
