Mombasa politician and businessman Suleiman Shahbal penned a message on simplicity on his Facebook page on Saturday.
In the message, Mr Shahbal advised that wealth does not necessarily guarantee happiness.
He went ahead to advice that power does not translate into security as the powerful cannot walk unguarded, and that beauty does not yield ideal relationships as celebrities do not have the best of marriages.
The thesis of his post: Simplicity rules the world.
"A wise man once observed that;If wealth is the secret to happiness, then the rich should be dancing on the streets. But only poor kids do that. If power ensures security, then officials should walk unguarded. But those who live simply, sleep soundly.
"If beauty and fame bring ideal relationships, then celebrities should have the best marriages. But its not here. Simplicity leads the world. Live simply. Walk humbly. Love genuinely. Was he right? What do you think?" Suleiman Shahbal's post read.
Shabal contested in the 2017 Mombasa gubernatorial race under the governing Jubilee party but lost to the incumbent Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
He is widely expected to take another shot at the governorship in 2022 to replace Governor Joho who will have finished his constitutional 2-term tenure.
