Three people died on spot after two motorbikes collided head-on.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening at Nyamasogota area in Kenyenya, Kisii County.
Area police boss Isaac Thuranira said the speeding motorbikes collided head-on killing the three on spot.
"Two of the three passengers were heading to Kenyenya shopping center and the rider was speeding. The oncoming motorbike rider tried to escape the speeding motorbike in vain," said.
According to the police boss, the riders of the two motorbikes were drunk when the accident happened.
"Riders should be cautious when riding on roads. It is unfortunate that the riders were drunk something that we suspect led to the fatal accident. Police will be more vigilant to apprehended riders who are operating under the influence of alcohol," he stated.
Thuranira challenged local youths who have ventured into the Boda boda business to adhere to the set traffic rules to curb unnecessary accidents.
"I am appealing to youths who are in Boda boda business to consider following the set road rules for the sake of their own safety. We don't want to continue losing more lives," said Thuranira.
He said the bodies of the deceased persons were moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.
