Even before the nation holds its next general election set for 2022, it seems some people are already strategizing for the 2032 elections.
This is probably with an assumption that the 2022 elections are already beyond their reach with candidates for the country’ top seat almost predictable.
With the 2022 poll out of sight, a Member of County Assembly in Uasin Gishu is challenging Governor Jackson Mandago to consider vying for the presidency in 2032.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Friday, the MCA, Josphat Lowoi said Mandago has what it takes to be the president.
The Karuna Mibeki MCA who is also the Uasin Gishu County Assembly leader of majority pointed out that they are willing and ready to work with the governor so as to ensure he leaves a legacy even as he prepares for the task ahead.
“As the Assembly, we are committed to helping you leave a legacy in this county because we want you to be president in 2032,” said Lowoi.
Mandago, described by locals as an astute politician with less tolerance to non-performers is serving his second and last term as the Uasin Gishu county boss as he will not be eligible to vie for re-election.
He is however allowed to vie for any other seat including the presidency once he completes his two-terms in 2022.
