Church is a place specifically meant for worship and as such should be respected by people who visit it.
Churches are holy places and people are expected to show respect at all times.
In Nairobi, churches are sprawling with different worshipers visiting them on Sundays.
However there are people who never show respect to these holy places and would do disgusting things when in church.
Here are 3 disgusting things people do in Nairobi churches.
1. Dressing skimpily
Some people and especially ladies dress skimpily when going to church.
Such dressing often causes discomfort for other church users.
In many cases you will find some ladies half dressed with some of their body parts exposed.
It is important that people respect the sanctuary of the church and wear decently when going to worship.
2. Speaking on phone loudly
When it comes to church, people should learn on how to keep off from their phones.
While in church, some people don’t switch off their phones and end up disrupting the sermons with their ringtones.
“We always advise worshipers to switch off their phones while in church but in most cases, our advice is never taken seriously,” Cecilia Wamaitha, an usher at a local church in Embakasi says.
She says that it is annoying when phones ring in the middle of worship or prayer session.
3. Stealing offering
It is not a secret that some people go to church with a specific aim of stealing from the offertory.
Several cases of people caught stealing from the church have been reported in some churches in the city.
Why would you steal from God anyway?
Pastor Protus Ngunjiri says that people who come to church to steal are cursed.
He says that in most cases are young people who don’t have jobs that come with the mind of stealing.
4. Eating/snacking
The church is a place of worship and it is disgusting to see grown-up people snacking and eating.
In cases of toddlers being fed is understandable but for grown-up men and women having food in church is wrong.
In majority of the churches, you will find people snacking and eating as the sermon goes on.
Such things cause discomfort to other people and in a way affect the sermons.
