Garissa County is in the processing of constructing a fruit processing plant that will have the potential of changing the county's fortune.
This has been revealed by the county in a social media post.

The County Government of Garissa will put up a multi-million fruit processing plant for sustainable food security and market systems, Governor Korane has said.
Addressing farmers in Qolothey farm and Maramtu 2 Farm on Monday where he had gone to assess county road projects and the impact of recent Tana Flash floods, the Governor noted that lack of markets for farmers was a major challenge.
" The fruit processing factory will soon end your marketing woes and I am sure this will increase your household income as well as reduce food insecurity,'' said the Governor amid wild cheers from Kulmis Women group.
Garissa Governor Ali Korane told farmers that a feasibility report conducted by the County Government had established the viability of the factory that will tackle market and food security crisis in the County.
The governor said the major investment will be done in Agriculture from bush clearing, constructing access roads, farm inputs to marketing in order to increase productivity.
He thanked the farmers for the resilience, hard work and the commitment they have demonstrated to set baseline despite the challenges posed by the floods, drought and other drivers of poverty.
