Deputy William Ruto is not the kind of leader Kenyans want after President Uhuru Kenyatta completes his second term in 2022, an ODM Governor has said.
According to Kisii County Governor James Ongwae, a section of Gusii MPs who have been moving around with DP Ruto risk losing their seats.
"I am appealing to Gusii MPs not to have mercy on DP Ruto and back his Presidential bid. Kenyans need someone whose integrity is not questionable to take up the country's top seat in 2022. Ruto can't be trusted because in many occasions he has been linked to corruption," he said in Kisii town on Sunday.
He said opposition leader Raila Odinga is a revolutionist who should be given a chance to serve even for one term in as president.
Ongwae warned politicians against politicizing the ODM party leader's age, adding that it had nothing to do with his ability to lead.
"Raila's age doesn't matter, what matters is his wisdom. It will be wise for the former Prime Minister to be given a chance to serve as President in 2022," he added.
