Kenya is a country of politics and even as President Uhuru Kenyatta warns against too much politicking over 2022, leaders are already positioning themselves.
In Nakuru, several politicians have shown what they want in the 2022 race.
But as they say, any politician without ambitions should quit the game.
Here is an analysis of few of them
Susan Kihika
Senator Susan Kihika will obviously run for governor in 2022. She has left no doubts about that.
Kihika did a mega campaign for the seat of senator that she left her name flying high. Believed to have contacts with deep pockets, Kihika is expected to whitewash other candidates in the race.
So far, it seems she will face off with Governor Lee Kinyanjui as no other candidature has shown serious interest.
David Gikaria
Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria alias Baba Yao is expected to go for a higher seat after serving for a second term.
According to sources, Gikaria is thinking of running for senator. That he has a good relationship with Kihika means they can team up to run massive machinery against Kinyanjui.
Speaker Joel Maina
Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Joel Kairu wants to venture into elective politics. Kairu is eyeing the Nakuru Town East seat in a deal that will see him joining the Kihika-Gikaria wing.
Stephen Kuria alias Mheshimiwa
Former Biashara Ward MCA Stephen Kuria alias Mheshimiwa is also training his guns on an MP’s seat. Though he is said to be in a dilemma, his first interest was to inherit Gikaria as the Nakuru Town East MP.
The entrant of Kairu in the matric is said to have complicated the maths for Kuria.
