But the ex-Rongo parliamentarian who is contesting on the region's dominant Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is facing among others, Eddy Oketch who emerged the second in the August 8 general elections.

He will, therefore, be facing a person who has had his eyes on the post for several years now and who probably has laid out a better foundation and is better prepared.

This is contrary to the veteran politician who only jumped on board following the demise of former Senator Ben Okello.

He will easily miss out for having done nothing to empower people and portray himself as a candidate whose only hope is the party's big name.

Also, having been in politics for long enough, he is more disadvantaged and will suffer from his past leadership failures as compared to the new faces who have nothing to haunt them.

With the nation currently switching to the younger type of leadership, with the youth leading in population, he will have it hard going past the likes of Oketch who belong to the young group.

Ayacko also lacks the blessings of county chief, Governor Okoth Obado, whose support he badly needs.

Obado has repeatedly opposed his nomination, vowing to support a different candidate in the awaited contest set for early October.

Following the Orange party's decision to shortchange the Kuria community which also inhabits the county in 2017 and take both the gubernatorial and senatorial seats contrary to an earlier agreement, the region is most likely to go for an anti-ODM candidate.

The Kuria region which gave the county its first Senator, Wilfred Machage, was thrown out in the concluded poll where the bigger Luo community swept all the seats and will be happy to revenge against ODM.

Therefore, chances are very high that Ochilo could fail to deliver.
