Kenya is a wonderful country blessed with beautiful landscapes which makes it the favourite destination for many tourists.
The country boasts of hosting wild animals with some being know to be dangerous and have the potential to kill.
Provided here are some of the deadly animals living in the natural habitats in Kenya that you will encounter while touring the country.
1. Puff Adder
This is a poisonous snake found in places like Mount Kenya, Kakamega forest, Lake Baringo, Northeastern region, Mombasa, Ukambani, Coast region, Maasai Mara national reserve, Meru National park, and Aberdares among other places.
So, be careful while visiting these places. Snakes do not attack easily but when threatened or stepped on, it will bite in defence.
2. The Cape buffalo
This is one of the deadly wild animals found in Kenya. Areas, where you are likely to encounter the buffalo, are Tsavo National park, Samburu national park, Buffalo springs national park, Nairobi National park, Amboseli National Park, Meru national park, Shaba National reserve, among others.
It does not mean that you will die if you visit these places. You just need to keep a safe distance while touring.
3. Lions
Lions don’t hunt human beings but are known to attack people.
As noted earlier the most important thing when touring the parks and reserves, is to be cautious and obey available park rules and directions. Places, where you will encounter lions, include Amboseli, Nairobi, Meru National, Tsavo national parks, Samburu, among others.
4. The Nile crocodile
These are reptiles and are common in and near water bodies. They present danger while out of the water and while hidden in the water. They usually lay in wait and then ambush in the attack.
You will come across these reptiles in the following places Mombasa, Maasai Mara, Nairobi’s Mamba Village resort, Meru, Tana River, Athi/Sabaki/Galana river, Ewaso Nyiro river, L. Turkana, L. Victoria, Lorian swamp, among others.
