Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has sensationally pledged to unmask those individuals behind the logging of the controversial Mau forest, the largest water catchment in the country.
The vocal Jubilee leader made the sentiments while submitting his contributions on the parliamentary report on the Mau eviction on Thursday.
He further claimed that no amounts of intimidation would make him back down, and the only people, he said, who can threaten him apart from his wife and children are President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and former prime minister Raila Odinga.
"I won't be intimidated into silence, Madam Speaker. If anything, the only people who can intimidate me besides my wife and children are President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and former prime minister Raila Odinga," he said.
The vocal Jubilee leader also challenged the media to collectively expose the 'big fish' possessing secretive farms in the capacious water catchment area, rather than granting impressive coverage only on how the peasants at the site are being flushed out.
"Go to Mau and visit the big, not only the peasants. And I urge the media to spotlight big names who own farms in Mau not only the peasants," said Duale.
The proposed eviction of about 50,000 illegal settlers in the expansive forest triggered a political storm, with leaders from Kalenjin ethnic opposing the move while the Massai community leaders propounding it.
The opposing side of the eviction exercise took issue in the manner in which the settlers are being hounded out while the proponents argue that continued habitation in the forest could occasion environmental-related hazards.
In a bid to usher reconciliation over the emotive issue, Konoin MP Brighton Yegon together with some section of Rift valley leaders have booked an appointment with President Uhuru Kenyatta, where they are expected to discuss the matter intensively.
“We have a date with the President this week over the ongoing operation to flush out families living in the Mau complex,” Mr Yegon said.
