Sakaja said Sonko should stop subjecting small traders to frustrations by ordering demolition of business stalls.

"I am not happy with the county government of Nairobi led by Governor Mike Sonko over the demolition of business stalls. The county should first consider finding an alternative for the small traders before demolishing business stalls because the same traders pay tax to the county government," he said.

Sakaja cited the Westlands demolition which left hundreds of traders stranded.

He said unnecessary demolition of business stalls should stop and necessary support be offered to small traders who are struggling to feed their families.

"Traders should not be harassed because they are one of the stakeholders we have. Sonko should consider helping small traders to boost their businesses and not demolishing stalls and evicting them. As leaders we must have the interest of our people at heart," he noted.

Sakaja promised that throughout his tenure he will empower women, youth and people living with disability so that they can start small businesses to earn a living.

The senator however, supported the ongoing demolition of houses constructed on public and riparian lands saying public land should be reclaimed and cartels be arrested to face prosecution.

He was speaking on Monday morning during an interview at Radio Citizen.
