Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was on Friday officially appointed the Good Deeds Goodwill Ambassador in Kenya.
The city boss was named last year by an Israel-based organisation as the Good Deeds Ambassador but had to wait until yesterday to receive the top accolade which he will hold for a period of three years.
While accepting the appointment, Sonko said the world will only become a better place if people embrace the culture of talking, thinking and doing good.
"I believe that if people think good, speak good and do good, the circles of goodness will grow in the world," he said.
He received the honour due to his generosity in helping the less-privileged people through the Sonko Rescue Team and the ongoing beautification of Mombasa Road.
Following the appointment, Nairobi was honoured to host Good Deeds Day celebrations on April 7, and the Africa regional conference later this year.
“This is a noble cause that will make the world a better place, and improve the lives of our fellow men and women,” Sonko remarked.
