Donde who is currently the Chairman of the Siaya County Public Service Board has been summoned to appear at the EACC regional offices in Kisumu on Tuesday, February 26, over claims of irregular hiring of staff in the financial year 2016/17 and 2017/18.

According to a letter dated February 18, 2019, EACC Regional Manager Ignatius Wekesa wants Donde to appear in person to answer several questions linking him to the alleged hiring of staff in the county.

He is expected among others to explain how they allegedly employed staff without academic credentials and paid them salaries without following laid down guidelines.

“We are acting on a petition from a lobby group to investigate the county government over alleged irregular appointments,” reads a section of the letter addressed to Donde.

Joe Donde served as Gem MP for one term from 1997 to 2002 after being elected on the Ford Kenya Party ticket.

He was appointed Chairman of the Siaya County Public Service Board by Governor Cornel Amoth Rasanga in 2013.

The summon comes a few days after activists raised questions over alleged irregular employment of staff at the Siaya County Government.
