After their Wednesday meeting with the region’s MCAs, the two firebrand Governors vowed to unite and champion the interests of the region going into the 2022 election.

With the idea of forming Coast Party coming to the fore, Joho uncharacteristically supported the idea saying it will be people driven.

Joho has in the past not embraced the idea, which widened his ‘rift’ with Kingi who has of late operated with one leg outside ODM.

While speaking after the meeting, Kingi said that the issue of the Coast Party will be people driven.

“What we are involved in is a process and we will get to decide on the formation of the party after getting the views of the people,” said the Governor as quoted by the Standard.

With Joho slowly embracing Kingi’s Coast Party drive and some MPs from the region openly rebelling against ODM amid Deputy President William Ruto, Coast region politics has just entered an interesting phase.
