The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday said the kidnapped Ongata Rongai girl, Cindy Wanjiru has been found alive and safe in Mwiki area, Nairobi.
In a post on their official social media pages, the DCI further revealed that two suspects linked to the incident were arrested.
“TWO suspects have been arrested by #SCPU Detectives following the kidnapping of a 5yr-old girl from Ongata Rongai. The two; 42-year-old Wambua Kenya & 24-year-old Yvonne Munyoki were arrested at Ndambaki, Mwiki area. Mitsubishi Lancer used during the kidnap confiscated. Child safe,” tweeted the DCI.
The car used in the kidnapping, a Mitsubishi Lancer was also found and is in police holding.
This comes days after the mother of the girl took to social media requesting Kenyans to help recover her daughter who was allegedly kidnapped on Sunday.
“Her name is Cindy Wanjiru, she was abducted yesterday 2/6 from their home in Ongata Rongai, Helena Estate. Witness claimed a red car picked her and speed off,” reads part of the tweet that was sent after Cindy's abduction.
