On Tuesday September 25, there was drama in the Nairobi County Assembly chambers after a pro-Elachi MCA was proposed for the position of the acting speaker.
Nominated MCA Mary Ariviza had been proposed for this position in her absentia.
However, today she stormed the chambers and started screaming and shouting that she supports the embattled County Assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi.
Efforts by the County Assembly security team to take her out were met with great resistance from Ariviza who had sat down while swaying her walking stick in her hands.
The security team tried to take her out in vain. It was then that they decided on dragging her on the floor out of the chambers.
This act didn’t go well with some MCAs, as some could be heard saying that dragging a fellow MCA on the floor is not good.
The position of the County Assembly speaker was left vacant after Beatrice Elachi got impeached by the MCAs on Thursday, September 6.
