Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have recovered 410 bags of stolen sugar.

In a tweet, DCI revealed that the sugar, which had been stolen from Aeris Kenya LTD at Changamwe in Mombasa, was found at a wholesale in Majengo.

The detectives noted that during the operation, one man identified as Abdi Ibrahim was arrested, and is assisting the detectives to deduce the circumstances behind the incident.

“410 BAGS of Sugar (@50Kgs) Stolen from Aeris Kenya LTD at Changamwe in Msa were yesterday recovered from a Wholesale Shop in Majengo, following a tip-off to @DCI_Kenya Detectives based in Changamwe. One Suspect; 30-year-old Abdi IBRAHIM arrested & assisting in investigations,” DCI said.

“The recovery was part of 1,547 Bags Zimbabwe Brown Sugar branded 'Huletts' (valued Ksh. 6.2M) that were reported stolen on 23rd August, 2019. Exhibits secured and the Investigating Team pursuing recovery of the rest,” DCI tweeted.
