A cloud of sorrow engulfed Kaluluini village in Yatta sub-county of Machakos county after a body of a 52-year-old man was recovered in the area on Saturday.

Yatta sub-county Police Commander Joseph Karanja confirmed the incident via a phone interview.

He said that the body of the man was discovered lying at the Yatta canal by members of the public.

The body, according to Karanja, had stab wounds and the private parts had been chopped off.

"Today in the morning we received a report that in Kaluluini market, there was a body of a man lying at Yatta canal, we sent officers to the scene where they found the body having stab wounds on the neck, stomach and back and the private parts chopped off," said the Police Commander.

Police suspect the deceased may have been killed following a long land dispute with his family.

Already one suspect has been arrested in connection to the murder as is being held at Matuu police station as investigations into the incident commenced. 

The body of the deceased was moved to Matuu Level Four Hospital mortuary.
