There have been cases in Garissa County of people being issued with fake certificates of good conduct.
Young people in the county desperate for jobs have fallen prey to criminals who claim to be giving genuine documents.
The problem has forced the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to issue a statement.
In a tweet on Monday, the DCI weighed in on the arrest of a cyber café customer attendant who issued fake forms.
“#DCI Detectives today (Monday) afternoon arrested a Cyber Cafe Attendant who was found making fake Police Clearance Certificates. The suspect who is currently in lawful custody will be arraigned in court tomorrow (Tuesday) to face charges of making documents without Authority,” reads the tweet in part.
“The Director @DCI_Kenya takes this opportunity to warn members of the public who engage in such criminal activities and to request potential employers to always confirm with us in case of doubt,” added the DCI.
At the moment, a Certificate of Good Conduct is one of the must-have official documents when one is applying for a job.
The document states and discloses one's criminal history.
