Monica Kimani's murder suspect reportedly said the case he's facing will crumble with time, reports the Standard.
Mr. Joseph Irungu, a fiance to TV anchor Jacque Maribe, is detained at Muthaiga police station as detectives try to unearth the mystery behind the 28-year-old lady, who was laid to rest on Friday.
When he was first arrested early this week, Irungu is said to have warned detectives that the case would not materialize adding that they 'can do nothing to him'.
The Standard established that Mr. Irungu, a self proclaimed security aide, is a trained mercenary from Afghanistan and has been offering VIP protection to top leaders in the country.
Last year, Irungu was pictured with former Taita-Taveta Women Rep Joyce Lay, who he protected much during her senatorial campaigns.
Also, a section of journalists confessed to the Standard that Mr. Irungu was a common figure in Jubilee campaigns and many of them thought he was part of presidential protection unit.
Despite Maribe insisting that they met early this year, sources say that the two were used to each other as early as June last year.
At Muthaiga police station and Kilimani, it has been established that top government officials have put pressure on the police to drop the case against it.
Mr. Irungu is said to have been having a close relationship with the deceased and two neighbors confessed that he was seen at the house of the late business woman hours to her death.
Police sources say he left the house late in the night and drove in a vehicle registered under Ms. Maribe's name.
Since then, his phone would go off until the Friday when he reported that he had been shot to the police.
So powerful the man is that even his neighbours at Buruburu estate have refused to open about his mysterious lifestyle.
