The sugar which was imported by several companies following cane shortage in the nation has since been declared unfit for human use, with Aladwa claiming that the ministry lands right in the middle of the issue.

He called for a quick intervention from the docket Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, whom he said is deliberately hesitant to take action.

According to the opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) parliamentarian, Kiunjuri’s quarters is most likely privy to the hidden faces behind the scandal but is covered in fear and unable to speak.

‘’Kiunjuri awache story mingi, anajua hii maneno ya sukari lakini hawezi ongea kwa sababu anaogopa (he should stop taking us in circles, he knows everything about the sugar but is just too scared to speak),’’ he said.

Kiunjuri who has found himself at the center of the mess alongside his Interior and Industrialization counterparts Fred Matiang’i and Adan Mohammed on Wednesday rubbished claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s brother Muhoho Kenyatta was involved in the illegal importation.

Speaking when he met governors from sugar-belt regions on Friday, he said that his ministry is working tirelessly to revive the collapsing sugar sector, in a bid to prevent such scenarios in the future.
