Renowned lawyer Otiende Amollo on Wednesday won yet another major case in a Nakuru court, after he successfully defended Egerton University Vice-Chancellor Rose Mwonya in an employment dispute.
Mwonya filed a suit against the University Council after she was sent on a 90-day compulsory leave over graft claims.
The varsity accused the educationist of violating procurement laws which led to loss of millions of shillings at the institution.
The VC was further accused of tampering with students’ records and irregular award of scholarships, claims she vehemently denied.
In September last year, she hired Amollo who argued in the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Nakuru, that her suspension was unlawful and violation of her human rights.
On Wednesday, Justice Monica Mbaru agreed with the lawyer that the university erred in sending the VC on a compulsory leave, and reinstated her.
Amollo, who is also the Rarieda Member of Parliament, took to social media to celebrate the victory immediately after the ruling was delivered.
"Procedural justice and fairness remain vital in all administrative action! Glad to have successfully litigated and overturned the irregular attempt to throw out Prof Mwonya as the VC of Egerton University," he tweeted.
Amollo build his name in the corridors of justice after he played a great role in the annulment of President Uhuru Kenyatta's August 2017 election victory.
The celebrated lawyer was representing Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Raila Odinga who had appealed the win at the Supreme Court.
