President Uhuru Kenyatta and a delegation of Kenyan traders are in China for the International Trade Expo.
President Kenyatta arrived in China on Saturday, October 3. The Expo kicked off on Friday and will run up to Tuesday, October 6.
President Uhuru leading the Kenyan traders’ delegation will be expected to sign a deal on horticulture that will see China’s market open to Kenya’s fresh produce of products such as mangoes, avocados and cashew nuts.
Taking on his Facebook page, President Uhuru announced that he met the Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping in Shanghai, China.
“Today I met with the President of China H.E. Xi Jinping in Shanghai, China. Our talks focused on promoting economic and trade exchange and cooperation between our two countries ahead of the inaugural China International Import Expo (CIIE),” he posted.
He further thanked President Xi for opening the Chinese market for Kenya’s exports.
“I wish to express our appreciation to President Xi for initiating the process of opening up the Chinese markets to our exports, and for ensuring that #Africa is a key facet of this mutually beneficial economic model.”
