The angered traders claimed that the woman identified as Esther Moraa was wearing an extremely tight skirt exposing her buttocks and her chest, the back was totally naked.

"Daraja is not an area where women can sell themselves.  Moraa was wearing indecent clothes prompting us to take action and kick her out of the market since no one was interested in her beauty," said Imelda Nyabonyi, a fruit vendor.

County askaris who were manning traffic along the busy Kisii-Migori road via Daraja Mbili rescued Moraa from the humiliation.

"Were it not for the alarm she raised, the traders could have undressed her. Women should learn to wear good clothes. Extremely short skirts and skin tights should be worn in a bedroom," said a county askari Brian Masese.

Mr. Masese said Moraa was warned against wearing skimpily to the market next time.

However, Moraa defended herself saying the traders were jealous over her dress code.

"I was in the market to buy vegetables when women traders starting unnecessary drama. Let everyone wear a cloth of his or her own choice," she noted.
