Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru has warned local chiefs across the county against condoning illicit brews before, during and after Christmas celebrations.
Nakoru while addressing members of the press on Monday in Nyamira town said making and selling of illicit brew is illegal.
"Chiefs who will condone the making and selling of illicit liquor at their respective areas of jurisdiction will face the law. Residents making 'busaa' to drink during the Christmas celebrations must be arrested failure to which the chiefs will be sacked to face prosecution," he noted.
The commissioner said he has received reports from deep villages over plans by some locals to make a local brew to mark the Christmas celebrations.
He maintained that the government has not legalized sell, and making of illicit brews.
Nakoru urged residents to celebrate Christmas responsibly.
"Schools will reopen next year and therefore, I am appealing to members of the public more especially parents and guardians not to waste money in buying expensive clothes and alcohol and their children to miss reporting back to school in January," he added.
He assured that security will be tight across the county.
