Deputy President on Saturday snubbed a planned visit to Garissa county for Nyanza.
The DP who was expected to commission a tuition block at the North Eastern Technical College, instead headed to Kisii, Migori and Nyamira Counties where he presided over several fund raising events.
However, the commissioning of the educational facility went on as planned where the Garissa Township MP Aden Duale presided over the function on behalf of the Deputy President.
In a social media statement, Duale revealed that he had represented the DP who was elsewhere for other commitments.
"Commissioned a tution block for North Eastern Technical College, Garissa. The only one in the North on behalf of Deputy President @WilliamsRuto," Duale stated.
DP Ruto's snubbing Garissa has not augered well with a section of residents who now claim Ruto was treating them as second class citizens.
"I am not happy with him. We have been waiting his visit to the region only to be told he's gone elsewhere," lamented Abdikarim Oshen, a resident of Garissa Town.
"The DP should know we voted for Jubilee in 2017. We are not second class citizens," added another resident, only identified as Shakim.
