Former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim has launched a scathing attack on retired President Daniel Arap Moi over what he terms as the country's culture of rigging.
Maalim claims that Moi allegedly institutionalised the rigging culture in the country.
According to Maalim, Moi is to blame for the alleged high rigging often witnessed during the general election.
"Moi institutionalised our present culture of rigging," the former National Assembly Deputy Speaker allegedly claimed on his official Twitter handle.
According to Maalim, it is only Jomo Kenyatta, the country's founding president who did not tolerate rigging culture.
He argues that Jomo Kenyatta practised accountable authoritarianism and did not rig in his closest friends.
The former MP claims that rigging is the main cause of electoral injustice in the country.
Maalim claimed that there are politicians who were declared winners in the last general election (2017) yet they did not win.
The former MP now wants a review and formulation of proper election laws for a fair electoral process in future.
Maalim says that unless electoral reforms are initiated, electoral fraud will remain a serious issue and a threat to the country's stability.
