The former Subukia lawmaker was on Friday among leaders who accompanied Ruto for a funeral ceremony at St Michael's Church in Bahati, Nakuru county.

The same has since raised questions on whether he has reunited with the side after storming in 2017, after losing in the Jubilee nominations for the Nakuru senatorial seat.

Speaking on Saturday, he noted that he has no plans of rejoining Jubilee or reconciling with its leadership and was not even aware that he would meet the DP there.

"Mimi sikuenda pale kukutana na Ruto na wala zile salamu hazikuwa na maana yoyote bali ni salamu tu za kawaida. Isichukuliwe eti ni maridhiano, ni salamu tu.

(Our handshake was just a normal handshake and has nothing to do with reconciliation. I never went there to meet the DP in the first place)," he said.

Wamwere was speaking on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show, Saturday evening.

He added that the issues lying between him and the Jubilee leadership remain intact as they have always been, and only stretched his hand for a shake out of politeness.

"Unapokutana na mtu, hata kama ni adui yako, ni ungwana kumsalia, ndicho nilichokifanya (decency dictates that you greet everyone, including your enemies and that's what I did)," he added.

Koigi moved out of the party in protest, over claims that the party leadership rigged him out, even after folding his Chama Cha Mwananchi party into Jubilee.

He then moved across to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party under the leadership of opposition boss Raila Odinga.
