A new report has listed ten Members of Parliament who rarely speak in the National Assembly.
The report released by Mzalendo Trust lists lawmakers who did not make any contributions during parliamentary debates from September 2017 to December 2018.
The notables male MPs in the list include Emgwen MP Alex Kosgey, Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Charles Kamuren (Baringo South), Alfred Sambu (Webuye East), Joshua Adama (Nyakach), Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West), James Githua Wamacukuru (Kabete) and Justus Kizito (Shinyalu).
Kikuyu legislator Kimani Ichung’wa emerged the best lawmaker after he made most contributions in Parliament.
The report also recognized the contributions made by Robert Pukose (Endebess) and Joseph Kirui Limo (Kipkelion East).
In the list of most active Nominated MPs during parliamentary discussions, Godfrey Osotsi, Jacqueline Adhiambo Oduol, and David Sankok emerged top.
The report listed Gertrude Musuve Inama, Abshiro Halake, and Mary Yiane Senata as the most active Nominated Senators.
According to the report, the best performing Woman Representatives are; Gladys Atieno Nyasuna (Homa Bay), Sabina Chege (Murang’a) and Gladys Boss Shollei of Uasin Gishu.
Caroline Gaita, the Executive Director of Mzalendo Trust noted that the most inactive politicians in the house are very vocal outside parliament.
“What’s interesting about the results is that some of these silent MPs in the House are the most vocal politicians outside the house,” said. The list already started to elicit mixed reactions.
