While speaking at a burial of a Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology student last weekend, Ms Odinga said her blindness came about while undergoing brain tumour treatment in South Africa.

"I was shocked to learn today that she went blind. She was putting on sunglasses and explained her ordeal to the participants.

"According to her, she was undergoing treatment and one day, she woke up from hospital bed and could not see anymore," said Tony Amecha, Secretary General to JOOUST.

Ms Odinga was rushed to South Africa last year and would later drop out of Kibra Constituency race to concentrate on her treatment.

Since then, the student leader narrates, Rosemary relocated to the coast in her father's house where she's being monitored closely by aides.

"She says nowdays she operates from the coast. We are expecting her back when the father receives honorary degree in December."

But news about her blindness remain scanty with her father's close aides bowing out of the debate when asked.

At the burial, Rosemary reportedly said she's now concerned with welfare of the less privilege through her foundation.
