Residents of Getenga village in Kenyenya, Kisii County, were left in a rude shock after a man stormed a local church half naked and accusing the church pastor of chasing his wife for sex.
Witnesses said normal evening prayers on Tuesday at the church turned chaotic after Moseti Nyabuto stormed the church naked.
"We were having evening prayers in the church when Nyabuto forced his way into the church and interrupted the prayers. He accused our pastor of having an affair with his wife," said Ann Nyarangi.
Ms Nyarangi, who was among the congregation, said that the members of the church shielded the pastor from the attack.
"The pastor was prevented from any attack because the man was armed with a machete. Community policing members frog-marched Nyabuto from the church before we proceeded with normal prayers," she noted.
Area assistant chief Mbaka Ondieki condemned the man saying he was drunk during the incident.
"People should stop drinking alcohol in excess. There is no way people like Nyabuto can consume alcohol and storm church to cause the disturbance. It is unacceptable," he said.
The chief said Nyabuto was caned thorough and warned against alcohol consumption.
"The claims that the pastor is chasing Nyabuto's wife for sex are being investigated," he noted.
