The residents argue that it is difficult for city dwellers to reach the governor at his Mua home.

Speaking on Tuesday, the residents said that it is easier for them to get and interact with the governor at City Hall.

Moses Odhiambo, a bodaboda rider at Ngumo market, said that Sonko’s decision to work from Machakos is unfair to Nairobians.

“We voted in Sonko as Nairobi governor and is unfair for him to operate and run Nairobi county affairs from his home in Machakos,” he said.

Odhiambo said that Sonko is no longer accessible as the case was when he was Nairobi senator.

“He should adhere to the MCAs advice and return to City Hall,” Sharon Indesia said. She said that Sonko’s claims that City is not safe for him do not make sense.

“We want him to operate in Nairobi and be closer to the people who voted him in office,” she said.

Nicholas Mbithe, a taxi operator claimed that Sonko is running away from his duties.

He said that Sonko is afraid of facing Nairobians as a result of his alleged failure to push development.

“Why would he operate at his home when he has a public office and security,” he said.

Joan Jambi, a student at a local college in Kibera urged Sonko to return to City Hall.

“He (Sonko) should not fear because he is a leader elected by the people,” she said.

Governor Sonko has vowed not to set foot at his City Hall office citing security threats.

The Nairobi governor claims that City hall is not safe for him.

Sonko says that he will only return to City Hall after it is thoroughly ‘cleaned’.

Last week, Nairobi MCAs gave Sonko two weeks ultimatum to return to City Hall.

The MCAs said that it is unconstitutional for Sonko to discharge Nairobi county functions in another county.

The city MCAs have threatened to initiate an impeachment motion against Sonko if he fails to return to City Hall.
