The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) by President Uhuru Kenyatta and African Union’s High Representative for Infrastructure Development Raila Odinga is a great idea.

The two leaders have been moving across the country while urging Kenyans to be united in transforming the economy. However, empty talk won’t take this nation anywhere.

It doesn’t make sense for the leaders to call for unity when nurses are still on the streets lamenting over unpaid allowances and promotions.

Nurses play an immense role in the lives of Kenyans.

The duo must ensure that the strike is averted as soon as possible.

Threatening the nurses won’t change the situation.

With their level of education, nurses deserve better treatment. The President and ODM leader must sit down and find ways to end the stalemate with the nurses.

Secondly, the issue of Somalia, Kenya border dispute cannot be ignored.

The leaders must rethink about ending the issue once and for all. The instability in Somalia puts this nation at risk.

There is no way Kenya will realize development if there is no peace in Somalia.

The issue of 133 useless courses being offered in Universities across the country is also another problem the two leaders must address with immediate effect.

There is no way the two will continue talking about mending broken ties when students are unhappy on the campuses.

To make matters worse HELB has threatened to arrest defaulters if they do not honour their promises with immediate effect.
