Speaking in Tharaka Nithi earlier this month, the DP announced that he was ready for the proposed changes.

‘’I hear that two groups are pushing for a referendum, let them present the questions and the proposed changes to us and let us decide. We have the votes,’’ he said.

However, he would again change his decision during a tour in Bungoma County on Friday, October 12.

Although the move has seen him branded insincere by a section of leaders from the opposition, Weda who was speaking on KBC English Service on Wednesday now claims that Ruto has never declared support for the looming amendments.

He said that Ruto was being sarcastic in his earlier remarks, and is the most unlikely person to support the referendum.

‘’Ruto has never changed his mind, and in my opinion, he was just being sarcastic. He has never taken the side of the referendum,’’ he said.

Weda further bashed the side pushing for the changes led by opposition leader Raila Odinga, noting that his proposal for the expansion of the executive is not the solution to the nation’s challenges.

Instead, he advised, Kenya needs improvement on its management system.

‘’Our problems are not in any way attached to the constitution, what we need to improve is our management system,’’ added the High Court Advocate.
