A 50-year-old man has gone into hiding after allegedly raping his 8-year-old daughter.
The incident happened on Monday in Nyamarambe, South Mugirango constituency, Kisii County.
According to the girl’s mother, Rose Moraa, her husband, Douglas Nyamoko, asked their daughter who is in class 3 not to report to school on Monday.
“He excused himself saying he should pick a panga from home only to end up raping the minor,” she said.
Moraa said the ‘hyena’ dad didn’t return to the farm but went into hiding after he raped the minor several times.
“I waited for him in vain. I suspected something was wrong and rushed home only to find my daughter bleeding from her private parts and her dad was missing,” she noted.
Area chief Joseph Onderi said the minor was questioned and revealed that her father defiled her before he fled.
The minor was rushed to Nyamarambe health center where she was treated and discharged.
The mother filled a P3 form at Nyamarambe police station and a manhunt for the suspect has been launched.
Onderi said the suspect must be arrested to be charged over defilement even if it takes 20 years from now.
