Rivalry between Governor John Nyagarama and seasoned politician Walter Nyambati took a new twist on Thursday when the two protagonists shook hands at the Supreme Court.
For months now, Nyamira County has stagnated in development with either sides taking hard stand thus frustrating implementation of projects.
A group of MCAs have lauded the two leaders following their decision to work together despite ongoing court battles.
"As a Jubilee MCA, I was happy to see them shaking hands. It's a good gesture and in assembly, we shall work with those in ODM government," said Ben Sironga, who represents Rigoma ward.
Majority Leader Duke Masira, in a phone conversation, said supporters of the two protagonists should learn from good gesture set by them.
"We must work together no matter our differences. When they greeted each other for the first time, we should also extend it to grassroots. That's the best way we can do things. No matter the outcome, the two pledged to respect outcome," he said.
Mr Nyambati vied on Jubilee ticket and came second with 59,700 votes to Governor Nyagarama's 65,000 votes.
Supreme Court is set to deliver ruling on the matter in which Nyambati claimed he was rigged in at least 34 polling stations.
