Police officers in Suna East sub-county are holding a man accused of killing his cousin in what is believed to be a case of land row.
Joas Otieno is suspected to have murdered his cousin, 39-year-old David Odhiambo on the night of Monday.
Confirming the incident, Migori County Police Commissioner Joseph Nthenge said that the suspect committed the crime while in the company of others.
He added that Otieno and other unidentified persons waylaid the deceased and attacked him as he headed to his house.
They reportedly attacked him with a sharp object, resulting in instant death.
"Odhiambo, the deceased was on the verge of entering his house on a fateful night when he was waylaid by the suspects, he sustained a deep cut on the neck and died on the spot," said the police boss, according to the Citizen digital.
The suspect was later arrested in Godjope area and is in custody as the law enforcers carry out their investigations.
Nthenge noted that disagreement over land have been a serious issue in the county.
He called upon residents to embrace peaceful modes of conflict resolution to avoid arguments that might lead to such deadly endings.
