The County Government of Mombasa is currently partnering with the national government on major infrastructural projects including the Mombasa city regeneration and the low cost housing projects.
Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi said the projects will completely change the face of the city and bring greater returns to Mombasa residents.
He made the revelations during a meeting with Joaquim Policarpo, the CEO of ProspectivaCV, a seasoned engineering consultancy firm based in Portugal in his office.
In the company of other county officials from the Governor's office and the County Department of Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, Kingi engaged with the leadership of the firm on possible areas of partnerships.
"Borrowing from the experience and expertise of these consultants we therefore hope to be a quality partner to the national government in delivering these projects," he said on Wednesday.
Being a gateway to the East Africa, Kingi said Mombasa also seeks to be the regional industrial hub where all neighbouring counties will get the necessary industrial solutions.
"Our MV035 unequivocally elaborates our commitment to the establishment of free ports; Special Economic Zones and Export Processing Zones to promote export of our valued products."
The MV035 also envisions sustainable interventions to address public transport challenges with a bias option on water transport.
"As we continue tackling issues road traffic management we are also keen on conversations that shall turn our waters into convenient transport alternatives."
