Speaking on Tuesday in Kericho County, the MP dropped a bombshell against the hotel, saying that it may be sitting on grabbed public land.

She accused the owner Mr Mwangi of engaging in discrimination and seeking to drive a wedge between people while claiming to be a Christian.

"Don't go to that place, they engage in discrimination while claiming to be Christians. I have done my research and discovered that that hotel sits on public land. You want to embarrass us with stealing public land. We want the owner Mr Mwangi to tell us how he acquired the land. Even the colonisers were asked to return land. I want him to know I will take a bill on Tuesday against the apartheid-like discrimination," a seething Waruguru said.

The strong words mark a significant escalation in the back and forth between the Women Rep and the hotel at the centre of the debacle.

The reactions to the saga from Kenyans have been mixed.

Waruguru now wants the hotel management to issue an apology.
